Why this tournament?#

Our goal is to be biggest, funniest and best international level tournament in Finland. So all participants would have possibility to play fair and challenging games and get some extra teaching in go.

Even komi?#

Jigo is your friend. :-)

I'm (5k/10k/15k). Why should I come to be slaughtered by dans?#

Errr... Because it's fun? Well, seriously speaking, you should keep in mind two things: First this to this kind of tournament will arrive people from all around Finland and especially good ones. Tournamets are excellent way to learn, because you can play against stronger players than yourself. In club games someone might play casually, but in tournament games you will see fighting spirit streched to its limit. You can be sure that every move your opponent makes will be best of his ability. Which of course means that you should do likewise. And in the end both will learn well during the game and after it when going thorough it with your opponent. Dan players hanging around are usually quite willing to give some comments.

Second thing to notice that there is only five rounds. If there is enough people in roughly same level, its more than likely that you will play with them almost all your games. If you have great tournament, you get to play better players, but you can be quite sure that they aren't 20 stones stronger... :-). Right attitude will be therefore to come and bring friends with you!

OK, third thing: tournament games will last total of 15 hours (assuming that you will spend all allowed time). 15 hours intensive go! If you are really intrested in go, this is most excellent! Seldom you will concentrate so much really - How many will spend 15 hours even in week or two?

Canadien byo-yomi?#

Pratical reason make it only sensible choice. There are too few good electronic clocks, which can handle japanese byo-yomi.

I am coming from Stockholm/London/Japan/Vantaa/really far away. Is there any possibility for accommodation?#

Please contact Jari Koivikkoon well beforehand, and we'll see if we can arrange some cozy rooms for you.
