You can play with someone you know or ask someone else to play with you each match. Try playing with someone new! |
The winners of each game are awarded with one victory point each. |
You can join the challenge at any time and play as many rounds as you want. |
Games can be played on either 19x19 or 13x13 boards: |
19x19: recommended game length 12min + 15s Fischer |
13x13: recommended game length 8min + 12s Fischer |
Great prizes for players that play during either evening! The main prize is positively fizzing. |
Schedule and pairings: |
The challenge starts on Friday evening at the sauna evening after the lecture. Teams can challenge others freely at any time. The games can also be played on Saturday during breaks between matches and during the Saturday sauna evening. The prizes will be given out on Sunday. |
Everyone is welcome to take part in the challenge for even a single match. |
Handicaps |
A team's rank is based on the average of its players. The handicap stones are based on this average. |
If a team has a kyu player in it, extra handicaps are given as follows: if the weaker players have a rank difference of 3 or more, the weaker player’s team gets 1 free captured stone. Extra captures are added for each additional 3 rank difference. (If a team has a 10kyu + 2dan and the opposing team has a 1dan + 2dan, the 10 kyu player gets 3 captured stones in addition to other handicaps.) |
Rules |
The pairs’ names are recorded on a stats sheet before the challenge match begins, and the result is written immediately after the match ends. |
The players of a team cannot help each other during the match. |
You can ask to confirm the turn order at any time during the match. If a mistake in the turn order happens, the opposing team is given 3 captured stones as compensation. Messing with the turn order on purpose is not allowed and will bring eternal shame onto whomever commits it. |
Casual tournament: Agreed upon modifications are allowed (e.g. if the end game is more convenient to play without a timer, the teams can agree to play without a timer.) |
