McMahon tai MacMahon (kumpaakin näkee, vaikkaan että jälkimmäinen on yhtä väärin kuin yleinenkin :) on sveitsiläisestä systeemistä edelleen kehitetty turnausjärjestelmä. Se sopii erityisen hyvin isoihin turnauksiin joissa on heterogeeninen pelaajapopulaatio.

MacMahon on helpompi ymmärtää sen perusteella että miten se poikkeaa sveitsiläisestä kuin matemaattisesta selityksestä. MacMahonissa pelaajille annetaan alkupisteet oletetun paremmuusjärjestyksen mukaan (gossa käytetään luokituksia,) ja sitten jatketaan kuin kyseessä olisi pitkälle pelattu sveitsiläinen. Tämä saattaa kummastuttaa asiaa tuntematonta, mutta jo viiden kiven tasoero tarkoittaa että heikomman pelaajan voittotodennäköisyys on varsin huono, ja näin ollen tuossa on järkeä. Lisäksi MacMahon-pisteet ovat vain paritustyökalu, niitä ei pidä käyttää mihinkään muuhun.

Palkintoja ei siis pidä jakaa MacMahon-pisteiden vaan voittojen perusteella. Toki tässä päästään siihen, että aliluokitetut ovat etuasemassa, mutta valitettavasti ei ole olemassa systeemiä joka voisi käyttää sellaista tietoa jota ei ole saatavilla.

Don't try to use HTML, since it just won't work.
